FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, stressed, experiencing relationship difficulties, or simply wanting to better understand yourself, therapy may help. You do not have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.
How do I choose the right therapist?
The right therapist is someone with the appropriate experience, training, and approach for your needs. If you're unsure where to begin, our office is happy to help match you with the therapist who may be the best fit.
What can I expect during my first therapy session?
Your first session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know one another, discuss your concerns and goals, and determine the best path forward.
Do I have to talk about everything during my first session?
No. Therapy moves at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You are never expected to share more than you are ready to discuss.
How often should I attend therapy?
The frequency of therapy depends on your individual needs and treatment goals. Your therapist will discuss recommendations with you and adjust them as treatment progresses.
Is what I share in therapy confidential?
Yes. In most situations, what you share in therapy is confidential. Your therapist will review confidentiality and its legal exceptions with you during your first appointment.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. The initial appointment is generally recommended to be in person so your therapist can determine whether telehealth is appropriate for your ongoing care.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept many insurance plans as well as private-pay clients. Coverage and rate varies by therapist and insurance plan. Please contact our office to verify your benefits before scheduling.
Why is a credit card or prepayment required?
Like many healthcare practices, appointment times are reserved exclusively for each client. Prepayment is generally required for intake appointments and may also be requested if a client prefers not to keep a credit card on file, has repeated late cancellations or no-shows, or requests a special scheduling accommodation that requires the therapist to travel to the office specifically for that appointment. If a late cancellation or no-show occurs, the prepayment is applied in accordance with our cancellation policy.
Why do you have a cancellation and no-show policy?
Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. Late cancellations and missed appointments prevent that time from being offered to another client. Our cancellation policy helps protect reserved appointment times and maintain scheduling for all clients.
Will someone contact or check on me after I cancel my appointment?
If you cancel your appointment or choose to take a break from therapy, we respect your decision. If you let us know you'll reach out when you're ready to return, we generally honor that request and do not initiate repeated reminders.
Our office staff provide scheduling and administrative support only. They do not provide clinical follow-up or assess clients' emotional well-being outside of scheduled therapy appointments. If you would like to return to work with a therapist, we are always happy to help schedule an appointment based on your therapist's availability.
Why doesn't the Practice respond to online reviews?
To protect privacy and confidentiality, we do not reply to or discuss individual experiences through Google reviews, social media, or other public platforms. If you have questions or concerns about your experience, we encourage you to contact our office directly.
What if I am experiencing a mental health emergency?
We are an outpatient private practice and are not a crisis service. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency department, or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
